Pronunciation

Ioana (she/her, pronounced E-wanna) is a trial and appellate lawyer who is passionate about access to justice. Before joining Furgiuele Law, she clerked at the Superior Court of Justice for Brampton, Milton, and Guelph. She then briefly worked as an Assistant Crown Attorney in Hamilton. While clerking, Ioana observed and assisted judges with a wide variety of criminal cases, including murder, fraud, and criminal-constitutional issues.

Ioana graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2020. During law school, she was involved in mooting, winning Top Oralist and Best Appellant Factum in the criminal-constitutional Callaghan Memorial Moot. Ioana then coached two mooting teams the subsequent year. In addition to mooting, Ioana represented low-income individuals charged with summary criminal offenses at Downtown Legal Services, a community legal aid clinic.

Before law school, Ioana completed her Honours Bachelor of Science at Trinity College in the University of Toronto, where she majored in Human Biology and Ethics, Society & Law.

Ioana is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Toronto Lawyers' Association, and the Criminal Lawyers' Association. When not working on crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, Ioana can be found exploring trails throughout Toronto.
